Shane O’Brien brings a robust, 15 years of hospitality experience to the Synergy team. Shane’s distinguished craft afforded him the unique opportunity of sharing the stove with chefs of the highest caliber – 2 of which reside on the ‘World’s 50 Best Restaurants,’ as well as collaborations with James Beard Award winners, and ‘LA’s #1 Restaurant of 2017.’
In 2018 Shane was asked to join Chef José Andrés to open his most ambitious restaurant to date, Somni. Working shoulder to shoulder with Chef Aitor Zabala (‘Eater LA Chef of the Year’ 2018), Shane led the team to achieve 2 Michelin Stars and a 5-Star rating in the famed Forbes Travel Guide.
Shane is known for his nuanced, holistic approach to menu development and he’s a passionate advocate for sustainable production methods. Shane’s operational and training acumen stems from his fine dining pedigree—including work with The Bazaar, Mugaritz, and Central of Peru—and he is thrilled to bring that same level of care to his work with the Synergy team and to support in driving the success of their clients.
A plate full of Santa Barbara Spot Prawns, quickly cooked over hot embers, with a side of my Mother-in-law’s charred Serrano chile salsa, rice and beans. Since it’s my last meal I’ll pair it with Del Maguey Tobala, neat.
